Acceptable use policy

Flipsyd carries messages between real people and real phone networks. These are the rules that keep it that way.

Last updated: 14 October 2026

This policy forms part of the terms of service. It exists for two reasons: telephone networks impose rules on anyone who sends SMS through them, and Flipsyd handles other people's workplace conversations. Breaking either set of expectations puts every other user's service at risk, which is why the consequences here are blunt.

1. Do not break the law

Do not use Flipsyd for anything unlawful, or to help anyone else do so. That includes fraud, harassment, stalking, threats, the distribution of illegal material, breaching sanctions or export controls, and infringing anyone's intellectual property or confidentiality.

2. Connect only accounts you are entitled to connect

  • Connect your own Slack and email accounts. Do not connect someone else's, and do not use credentials you were not given for this purpose.
  • If the account belongs to your employer, make sure their policy permits you to relay its contents to a personal phone. Ask if you are not sure.
  • Do not use Flipsyd to monitor, intercept or exfiltrate a colleague's messages, or to move confidential material out of an organisation without authority.
  • Do not point your Flipsyd email address at a shared or team mailbox that others expect to be private to that team.

3. Messaging rules

Flipsyd is a one-to-one relay for your own messages. It is not a sending platform, and using it as one will get the shared numbers blocked for everybody.

  • No unsolicited, bulk or automated messaging of any kind — no marketing, no alerts fan-out, no notification firehose piped through your account.
  • Do not register a number you do not control, and do not keep sending to a number after its holder has opted out.
  • No content prohibited by mobile carriers: high-risk financial offers, gambling promotions, controlled substances, adult content, or anything designed to get around carrier filtering.
  • Do not spoof, disguise or misrepresent who a message is from, and do not use Flipsyd to impersonate anyone.
  • Do not use Flipsyd for emergency communications. It is not an emergency service and cannot reach one.

4. Do not attack or overload the service

  • No probing, scanning or penetration testing without our written permission, and no attempting to access another user's account or data.
  • No scripting, scraping or automating the SMS or voice interface at a rate a person could not produce, and no circumventing credit limits, rate limits or the plan you pay for.
  • No reverse-engineering, and no reselling or rebranding Flipsyd as your own product.
  • No attempts to manipulate the summarisation model into ignoring its instructions, or to use it as a general-purpose AI endpoint.
  • Do not introduce malware, or use Flipsyd to distribute it.

5. Reporting a problem

If you find a security flaw, tell us at hello@flipsyd.app before you tell anyone else, and give us a reasonable chance to fix it. We will not pursue anyone who reports a genuine flaw in good faith, does not access or modify other people's data, and does not degrade the service while testing.

Report abuse to the same address. Include the number involved and roughly when it happened — message content is deleted within 24 hours, so a late report may be unactionable.

6. What we do about breaches

Where we can, we warn first and give you a chance to fix it. Where the breach is serious, unlawful, or actively harming the service or another user, we suspend immediately and ask questions afterwards. We may also stop specific messages, restrict features, close the account, or report the matter to the police or to a regulator where the law requires it.

If we close your account for a breach of this policy, you are not entitled to a refund of the current month. If we got it wrong, tell us and we will put it right — including the refund.

7. Changes

Carrier rules change, and this policy changes with them. Material changes are announced by text or email before they take effect.
